Saskatoon police charge woman in boy’s death

Lengthy investigation leads to charge of second-degree murder

July 8, SPS officers responded to a report of an unresponsive two-year-old at an apartment in the 100 block of Avenue T South. The boy was transported to hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

SASKATOON—The Major Crime Section of the Saskatoon Police Service has arrested and charged a 37-year-old woman with second degree murder in relation to a death in July of last year.

At around 11:30 a.m. on July 8, SPS officers responded to a report of an unresponsive two-year-old at an apartment in the 100 block of Avenue T South. The boy was transported to hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The woman was charged with second-degree murder after an autopsy and a lengthy investigation that involved the SPS Child Abuse Unit and the Ministry of Social Services, as well as consultation with medical professionals and Crown Prosecutors.
