Update: Saskatoon Police downgrade murder charge to manslaughter

Saskatoon Police charged a 22-year-old woman with second-degree murder of a 23-year-old woman early Saturday morning.

Update: Saskatoon Police say that the 22-year-old woman that was originally charged with second-degree murder will now be facing a charge of manslaughter and will see a Justice of the Peace this evening. 

SASKATOON – Saskatoon Police are investigating the death of a 23-year-old woman in the city early this morning.

Police say that at 2:41 a.m. they were called to a business in the 200 block of third Avenue South for a report of a woman suffering from a serious injury.

When police arrived, they found her with life-threatening injuries and despite lifesaving efforts by the officers and paramedics she died.

Police arrested a 22-year-old woman at the scene and charged her with second-degree murder. They say the two were known to each other.

Patrol officers as well as members of the Forensic Identification Section, Serious Assault Unit and the Major Crime Section are investigating.
