Saskatoon police look for video of men who fled crime scene

SASKATOON — The Saskatoon Police Service are looking for video information in their investigation of a shooting that resulted in the death of a 29-year-old man and injury of two others, ages 25 and 35.

Police are looking to identify two men of slim builds that were seen fleeing the area in dark clothing; one carrying a bag with a strap. Investigators are requesting residents in the area enclosed by Saskatchewan Crescent East, Victoria Avenue, Main Street, and the Idylwyld Drive Freeway with access to security cameras to review the footage between 4 and 5 p.m. on May 19 for signs of suspicious activity.

Saskatoon Police Service received the initial report at approximately 4:30 p.m., May 19. An injured man was reported to be in the 100 block of Main Street East. Shortly after, additional calls to police reported shots being fired in the 700 block of Melrose Avenue. In addition, another injured male was reported to have been transported to City Hospital.

Upon arrival at the 700 block of Melrose Avenue, responding officers located a deceased male behind an apartment building.

Police do not believe there to be a continued risk to public safety.
