SASKATOON — Commuters will experience two-way traffic on the Circle Drive North Bridge starting this weekend as the rehabilitation project progresses according to schedule, reaching the halfway mark.
City crews are finishing the westbound bridge and will reopen it to traffic this weekend. Once reopened, the westbound side will accommodate two-way traffic while work commences on the eastbound side.
Motorists are advised to employ the zipper merge technique when approaching the construction zone. Using all available lanes until reaching the merge point is recommended, then taking turns proceeding through.
The construction of the Circle Drive North Bridge, which is four decades old, began in late February and is projected to conclude in October.
The extensive work encompasses tasks such as replacing asphalt and barriers, enhancing drainage and concrete, and repairing piers and abutments to ensure the bridge's longevity.
Saskatoon Transit services may be affected by this ongoing construction. Commuters can stay updated with transit service alerts and access real-time bus information through third-party applications like Transit and Google Maps Transit on desktop platforms.
