The  Preeceville School garden that the elementary students helped to plant have grown to huge portions, exploding from the garden boxes that they were seeded in.

“The Preeceville School Community Council  sponsored the activity with the goal of having children learn where food comes from and how to plant a garden,” said Vereen Primeau. “The garden has really expanded over the summer months with utilizing what we can in the fall through the school. It will allow students to see how vegetables can be used in a meal setting. Through the summer the community council members were responsible for weeding and watering. We were fortunate that we had the right amount of rainfall that it required very little watering. The wood chip mulch helped to keep in the moisture and some of weeds out,” she said.

This was the first year for the project and has been met with very positive results.
