On August 24, 2019, at approximately 2:20 p.m., Southey RCMP responded to a report of a pedestrian versus motor vehicle collision on a residential laneway in Piapot First Nation.
When officers arrived at the scene, a 43-year-old female confirmed she had struck a 33-year-old-male with her vehicle.
The 33-year-old male was transported by STARS to a hospital in Regina. He was pronounced deceased upon arrival.
The 43-year-old female was arrested at the scene.
Saskatchewan RCMP Forensic Identification Services and Traffic Reconstruction Unit processed the collision scene. The vehicle has been towed and the scene has been released.
Saskatchewan RCMP Forensic Identification Services, Saskatchewan RCMP Traffic Reconstruction Unit, Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crime Unit South as well as Southey RCMP continue to investigate.
In relation to this incident, Leah Nicole Pratt (DOB 1976-05-13) of Piapot Frist Nation has been charged with the following:
Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death, Section 320.13(3) of the Criminal Code;
Criminal negligence causing death, Section 220(b) of the Criminal Code.
Leah Nicole Pratt has been remanded until her first court appearance at Regina Provincial Court on August 26, 2019 at 9:30 a.m.
