Sturgis archers win one gold, one silver and two bronze medals at provincial meet

Members of the Sturgis Archery Club participated in the Junior Olympic Program indoor provincial meet in Prince Albert on April 15 and 16.

            Members of the Sturgis Archery Club participated in the Junior Olympic Program indoor provincial meet in Prince Albert on April 15 and 16.

            “There were eight members who attended the shoot, from which four brought medals home,” said Brad Cameron, the coach.

The Junior Olympic Program (JOP) runs from mid-October until mid-April with practices taking place Monday evenings at SCHS.

Kale Musey won a gold medal and Gavin Swiderski earned a silver medal in the Olympian 240.245.250 category.

Riley Kuta won a bronze medal in the Bowman 160 category.

Hunter Nelson placed fourth in the Bowman II 200 category.

Cole Bilanchuk won a bronze medal in the junior men’s category on Sunday in Prince Albert.

The Junior Olympic Program (JOP)is designed to recognize young archers for their achievements and give encouragement for improvements. As skills develop, participants become more confident and do better at performing during competitions.
