Members of the Sturgis READ Club are celebrating the conclusion of the renovations to the building.
"New blinds and rubber mats for the entry together with a new towel dispenser in the kitchen and bathrooms have added the finishing touches to the renovations," said Betty Lou Skogen, president of the READ Club.
"Through a grant provided by the New Horizon senior program, we were able to also shingle the roof as well as purchase throw rugs, new paint and windows to give the centre a new look," she said.
Club members meet every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday to play cards and pool and for visiting, Skogen said. New activities include art classes provided by Sherry Lesser.
Lesser will be instructing five classes in the media using water, she said. “After Christmas we will be using acrylic paint.
“We will also be hosting a senior cribbage tournament sometime in February,” she said. Exercises have started up through the Active Aging program.
“With the renovations done, we are now able to rent the building when not in use,” Skogen said.
