Sturgis senior boys volleyball team wins home tournament

The senior boys volleyball combined team, comprised of players from Sturgis Composite High School and Norquay School hosted a tournament in Sturgis on September 30 and October 1.

            The senior boys volleyball combined team, comprised of players from Sturgis Composite High School and Norquay School hosted a tournament in Sturgis on September 30 and October 1.

            The Sturgis team came out on top of five other teams to win the tournament.

            The standings recorded after a round robin play had Sturgis in top spot with five wins and zero losses; Langenburg 3-2; Grenfell 3-2; Yorkton Regional 3-2; Wadena 1-4, and Kamsack 0-5, said Kipp Bayer, coach.

            In the semifinals, Sturgis defeated Yorkton Regional two sets to one, and Grenfell defeated Langenburg two sets to one.

            In the final, Sturgis defeated Grenfell two sets to none.
