Bert Suknasky, a Sturgis town councillor, received a positive impression from the SUMA (Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities Association) convention held in Saskatoon February 4 to 8.

"The convention was very informative," said Suknasky.

"I have attended the convention for 20-plus years as a councillor and each year it features different topics and workshops," he said.

Suknasky attended workshops dealing with the environment and the roles of the watershed authority.

"I also found the keynote speech by Joan McCusker very motivating,” he said.

“The main highlight that I took away from the convention was learning that other communities face the same issues but just look at things a different way,” he said. “Exchanging different ideas with others is great."
