Many projects were held in the last fiscal year by members of the Sturgis branch of the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation, said Rob Wilcott, president, in his address at the Sturgis banquet and awards event on April 29.

"We have an on-going funding agreement with the Preeceville branch which allows all active members access to the local gun range," he said. "This is an arrangement that both clubs should be proud of.”

There were approximately 20 hunters who brought in antlers for measuring at the antler scoring event in December, he said.

"We have a lease with Peniuk farms and we have donated $4,000 to the Habitat Land Trust,” he said. “The donation is designated for the purchase of two quarters of land located southwest of Ketchen.

The club has also donated $500 towards the Hamin Creek education facility at Candle Lake. It also donated $300 to the Sturgis and District Volunteer Fire Department and $500 to the Sturgis Community Hall committee.

This year the women's outdoor weekend will be held at Candle Lake on September 29 to October 1. The youth conservation camps will be held July 16 to 22 for girls and July 22 to 28 and August 13 to 19 for boys, Wilcott said.
