Sunrise Regional Health Authority chairperson resigns

Lawrence Chomos, the chairman of the Sunrise Regional Health Authority, has resigned from the board that he has served on for the past nine years. Chomos was first appointed to the Sunrise Regional Health Authority as a board member in March of 2007.

            Lawrence Chomos, the chairman of the Sunrise Regional Health Authority, has resigned from the board that he has served on for the past nine years. 

            Chomos was first appointed to the Sunrise Regional Health Authority as a board member in March of 2007. He was named chairperson on December 12, 2012.  In his resignation letter, Lawrence has stated that his time on the Sunrise Regional Health Authority was enjoyable and that he is leaving in order to pursue a personal opportunity that will require his dedicated time. 

            “We were fortunate to have such a highly respected leader as Lawrence Chomos on our board for so many years,” says president and CEO of Sunrise Health Region, Suann Laurent. “What will remain are his powerful words of instruction, so frequently spoken to us, to continue progress towards a better tomorrow for the people that we serve.” 

            Vice-chairperson Don Rae has accepted the role of interim chairperson until a successor to Chomos is announced. The Minister of Health appoints those who serve on regional health authorities and names a chairperson and vice-chairperson by Order in Council.
