March 11, 1971-Sherry Leason, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Leason was crowned queen of the Homecoming 1971 Winter Carnival sponsored by Preeceville and District Lions Club.

 

February 18, 1971-Four thousand telephone subscribers in Canora, Preeceville, Sturgis and Kamsack areas joined the nation-wide direct distance dialing network.

 

November 11, 1971-W.G. Morken of Sturgis was elected to the board of directors of the United Grain Growers Limited at its 65th annual meeting.
