Canora town council decided at the September 1 meeting to contribute $106,662 towards the total cost of  new Collaborative Emergency Centre (CEC) project at Canora Hospital.

The total cost of the project is estimated at almost $1 million. The town and surrounding communities are responsible for 20 per cent of the cost. The reasoning used by council was that the town represents about 52 per cent of the users of the facility. The rest of the funding is to be raised by the Canora and District Health Foundation.

Before making the decision, council met Val Morozoff, Donna McCormick, Andrea Barteski and Ken Wasyliw of the Canora and District Health Foundation to discuss funding for CEC.
