Two women charged with murder appear in Saskatoon court

Kathleen Papequash and Jade Anita Gardipy-Bear are charged with second-degree murder

SASKATOON – Two women charged with second-degree murder made court appearances in Saskatoon Provincial Court.

Kathleen Papequash, 32, appeared Nov. 16, and Jade Anita Gardipy-Bear appeared Nov. 10.

Papequash and Gardipy-Bear are accused of killing a 52-year-old Saskatoon man in the city’s seventh homicide of 2021. Saskatoon Police didn’t release the victim’s name at the request of the family but say that the victim and Papequash were known to each other.

Saskatoon Police Major Crime Section and the Forensic Identification Section launched an investigation after police were called to a residence in the 500 block of Ave. X South at about 2 a.m. on Nov. 2. They found a deceased man.

Gardipy-Bear is also charged with break and enter, possession of break-in tools, two counts of assault with a weapon, fail to appear in court, and theft.

The charges against Papequash and Gardipy-Bear haven't been proven in court. 

Papequash and Gardipy-Bear are back in court Nov. 25 to speak to their matters.
