Victoria School students and staff participated in a Terry Fox Run in Kamsack on Friday, while raising funds for cancer research.

The event began with an assembly at 11 a.m. when a video about Fox and his Marathon of Hope was shown, and Michael Woollard spoke briefly about Fox’s attempt to run across Canada in spite of his having only one leg.

Joining the students were members of the staffs of Duck Mountain Ambulance Care and Affinity Credit Union as well as some parents.

The entire group went for a walk through the community, returning to the school for a hot dog lunch before preparing for the school’s open house. Funds were also raised at a special “wishing well” where people were able to make donations by dropping coins into the well.
