Woman wanted on Canada-wide warrant granted bail

Peequaquat is charged with unlawful confinement and aggravated assault

SASKATOON – A woman wanted on a Canada-wide warrant three months ago was granted bail after a show cause hearing Thursday in Saskatoon Provincial Court.

Last year Saskatoon Police had issued the warrant for 33-year-Heather Rene Peequaquat’s arrest and released her photo to the public asking for help locating her. She was wanted on the Canada-wide warrant for being unlawfully at large. She is charged with unlawful confinement and aggravated assault.

According to police, they received a report on Aug. 21, 2020, that a 26-year-old man was the victim of an aggravated assault and an unlawful confinement at a house in the 400 block of Avenue G South. The victim sustained injuries but has since recovered. Police say the attack wasn’t random.

Peequaquat is back in court on Feb. 4 to enter a plea.
