Hundreds of smiles will be on the faces of children on Christmas Day, and thanks to the efforts of the Canora Ambulance, more children in Canora will wear the same grin.
The Yuletide Toy Drive, which requests that people in Canora donate new toys to be distributed to children who may not otherwise receive gifts during Christmas, ended last week with its goal of filling the ambulance with toys already accomplished days before the deadline, said Carla Steciuk during an interview on December 12.
“We had a big push at The Bargain shop on (December 10) to encourage people to donate, and today we had enough to fill up the ambulance,” she said.
According to her estimate, there was approximately $1,000 worth of toys that would be donated to children in the Canora area.
“Everything goes back to the community,” she said.
Steciuk was still collecting toys when she displayed the full ambulance, but was already pleased with the effort of the community.
“The support was tremendous.”
Toys will be delivered to families in need on December 22.
