Amateur golf champion crowned

After years of playing golf, Tyler Wright claimed his first Amateur Men’s title. Wright, representing the Wascana Country Club, came in first place at the 106th Access Communications Saskatchewan Amateur Men’s Championship at Deer Park.

After years of playing golf, Tyler Wright claimed his first Amateur Men’s title.
Wright, representing the Wascana Country Club, came in first place at the 106th Access Communications Saskatchewan Amateur Men’s Championship at Deer Park.
The four-day tournament ended on July 20, crowning Wright as the champion.
Wright handily won with an overall score of -2.
After the 18th hole, Justin Wood, Cory Selander, Danny Klughary, and Matt Procyshen, who were all tied, competed for second and third place.
Selander scored a birdie to secure his second place position. Klughart came in third place after playing three holes against Procyshen.
At the awards ceremony, Wright congratulated the Deer Park staff for the quality of the golf course. He also thanked the volunteers.
“We like when don’t have to hunt for our [golf] balls,” he joked.
Wright commended the wide swath of players for their tournament performances, singling out the younger golfers for carrying the torch.
“I think golf’s in great hands in Saskatchewan,” he said.
Wright, Selander, and Klughart will represent Saskatchewan as they compete for the Willingdon Cup at the Golf Canada National Championship in August.Procyshen will serve as an alternate.
For now, Wright is happy to bask in his victory.
“It’s a dream come true,” he said.
