The Tonkin Curling Club held its annual ladies bonspiel from Feb. 9-11. With a total of 10 participating teams, it’s the highest turn out the club has seen in the past few years.
“It’s usually held in the third week of January, but we moved it into February this year to get more teams out,” said Jeff Sherwin, the ice maker/care taker of the Tonkin Curling Club. “We’re happy with the results.”
The week before was the 69th annual men’s bonspiel.
The winner of the first event of the men’s bonspiel was team Davis from Roblin.
The winner of the second event was team Benko from Tonkin.
The winner of the third event was team Smith from Saltcoats.
And the winner of the fourth event was team Chilly’s from Tonkin.
The 2017 Tonkin Windup Bonspiel will take place from March 1-4, and all curlers are welcome.
