The Yorkton Richardson Atom Terriers brought an end to their Major Hockey League season when they beat the Melville Snipers 5-4 at the Horizon Credit Union Centre in Melville on Wednesday March 28th to win the two-game goal total 'C' final by a combined score of 12-9, says head coach Gord Ross.

The series would determine a winner based on the total goals scored at the end of the two games; one played in Melville, one played at home in Yorkton.

The Terriers won the first game of the series by a score 7-5 the previous Wednesday in Yorkton, got goal support from the following players: Colby Ross with 1, Josh Haczkewicz with 2, Dasek Sobkow with 1 and Jaxon McLeod with 1.

Assists went to Kyle Stewart with 1, Anthony Bunnie with 1, Benjamin Lortie with 1, Mcleod with 1, Sobkow, with 1 and Ross with 2. Contributing also to the win with strong play were Rylan Bahrey, Logan Speidel, Jon Hedley, Logan Rohatensky, and Jesse Todos.

The team was blessed with exceptional goaltending courtesy of Noah Pfeifer throughout the entire play-offs, says coach Ross.

Pfeifer recorded four shutouts in 12 games played and made several outstanding saves in the two game final.

Yorkton and Melville finished in the top two in the round robin, Melville finished with 20 points while Yorkton finished with 14 points.

Other teams competing in the group were Langenburg, the Esterhazy Flyers, Churchbridge and Kamsack Red. Yorkton was tied for points with Langenburg.

The team would like to thank Richardson (Darrell Sobkow) and Mcdonalds (Dean and Tricia Shyiak) for sweater sponsorship for the season.
