Bantam Terriers win a pair of close ones

The Yorkton UCT Terriers played two games over the weekend, one at home and one away. On Sunday afternoon, in a game against the Regina Hurricanes, a three-goal first period output saw Yorkton squeak out a 4-2 win.

Four different players got their names on the scoresheet.

Kholton Shewchuk opened up the scoring at 18:44 of the opening frame. Brayden Cockwill evened the affair for Regina at 15:52. Turner Ottenbreit answered that less than one minute later to restore the Terriers' lead to 2-1 and Steven Ste. Marie tallied the third Yorkton goal to make it 3-2 heading to the dressing room. Caleb Sutter scored what turned out to be the lone goal of the second period. Chaseton Sare tallied early in the third period but couldn't get any closer in a 4-2 Yorkton win.

One day earlier (Dec. 17) on a road trip to Lebret, the Terriers tangled with the Weyburn Crescent Point Energy Red Wings and eked out a 2-1 victory. Tanner Mak scored the winning goal at 11:51 of the second period. Kylan Shea scored Yorkton's first goal at 7:12 of the first period and Bryce Hall tied the game at 1-1 at 8:57 of the second period.
