Major Hockey League playoffs continued into last weekend as Yorkton took on Fort Knox.

Don Dzuba, head coach of the Quizno's Subs team said they hadn't had any game action since a date in the middle of February.

He said there may be some rust on his players.

He was right about the rust, but luckily for the Terrier team, it only lasted for a period as they cruised to one of their most lopsided victories of the season.

"We started off slow," admits Dzuba. "We hadn't played since the middle of February. We were a little bit rusty."

He said Fort Knox was forced to pull their goalie in the second period.

Dzuba added that this game was their first meeting of the season with Fort Knox.

While the SJHL Terriers took a beating Friday night at the FAA, the bantam club handed one out to the effect of a 13-1 win at the Yorkton Kinsmen Arena.

The bantams scored six goals in the second period after assistant captain Jorie Dull tied the game at 1-1 back in the first period.

Isaiah Bellegarde got the scoring started, giving Fort Knox a 1-0 lead early in the game.

The teams headed to the dressing rooms even at 1-1, then Yorkton broke loose like a pack of wild horses.

Dull would go on to complete his hat trick in the second period. He also added a pair of assists.

Carter Flasch also score a hat trick.

Ryan Merkl scored twice, while Mason Plews, Brendan Dzuba and Ryvir Hine scored singles.

Dzuba's goal was the only Yorkton goal that came unassisted.

Game two of the opening round of the MHL playoffs is expected to be played late this week, says Dzuba, noting that it was scheduled for Saturday but the team is hoping to play it earlier.

"They're probably a better team. Our guys are a little more eager to play. They were pressuring we just played better."
