Local Tae Kwon Do student Francis Bazin had great success this Saturday at the National Team Trials in Toronto. The team trial event was a double elimination format with the medalists from the National Championship held in Winnipeg earlier this year. Bazin, being top ranked in his division, had the initial bye.

His first match was against a strong competitor from Nova Scotia.

At the end of the second round the score was 3-3. Francis had a very strong third round and the match ended 7-3 in his favour.

The Nova Scotia competitor now had to fight against an Ontario fighter.

The winner of that match would then again challenge Bazin for the team spot.

The Nova Scotia fighter advanced to fight once again with Bazin, who once again, came out on top in a close match.

As a result, Bazin will represent Canada at the Junior Pan-Am championships scheduled for Oct. 6-9 in Las Vegas, USA.

This is a very big event and a great honour for Bazin to participate, says Master Wayne Mitchell of Kee's Tae Kwon Do.
