Broncos edge Terriers at Westland Arena in SJHL contest Friday

Two third period goals were the difference as Humboldt defeated Yorkton 3-1.

YORKTON - After back-to-back wins over Melville the Yorkton Terriers were hoping to start a legitimate winning streak as they hosted Humboldt Friday.

Cage Newans scored the only goal of the first period. It came at 12:49 and gave the visiting Broncos a 1-0 lead in the SJHL encounter at the Westland Insurance Arena.

It was 10:39 into the middle period before the Terriers would knot the contest 1-1. It was a powerplay effort from Quintin Unreiner.

The hope of a winning streak paled in the third when Humboldt edged ahead when Matthew Van Blaricom sored an extra man goal at 5:09.

A powerplay, empty net effort by Boris Kofman at the buzzer made it a 3-1 Bronco win, ending the possible win streak for Yorkton.

Ethan Farrow was in the Terrier net for the loss facing 37-shots and allowing two goals.

Benjamin Motew guarded the twine for the Broncos facing 25-shots in the win.
