The Bruce Brownlee rink, from the Wadena Curling Club, was victorious in the A event in the Canora Town and Country Bonspiel, which concluded on January 28.
Brownlee, who played third, and his teammates Colin Redman (skip), Redman’s son Hoyt (second) and Michael Rattray (lead), survived a tight A-event final with an extra end victory over the Bob Kolodziejski rink of Canora.
The Redman father-and-son duo was only one of the examples of the strong emphasis on family participation.
The B event was won by the “Rock Rink” of Canora, skipped by Darryl Rock, with his daughters Ally and Donna playing third and lead respectively. Brody Harrison rounded out the team at second. The Tim Olson rink of Preeceville was the B-event runner-up.
The Canora/Buchanan rink skipped by Kent Zuravloff took the C event. Zuravloff and Nick Woloschuk (lead) both hail from Buchanan, while Kevin Fediuk (third) and Danny Wasyliw (second) are from Canora. The foursome prevailed over the Al Palagian rink of Canora in the C-event final.
