Bulldogs top Regina, Mustangs to end season

After a home victory June 16 against Regina and a road victory Saturday in Moose Jaw, the Bulldogs lacrosse team rounds out their Prairie Gold Lacrosse season with a pair of wins.


After a home victory June 16 against Regina and a road victory Saturday in Moose Jaw, the Bulldogs lacrosse team rounds out their Prairie Gold Lacrosse season with a pair of wins.

After scoring the winning goal with one second left in regulation time in a 6-5 win over Regina at home last Thursday, they added to the win total with a road win, 9-5 at Moose Jaw to round out their season.

In the season finale down the highway at the Community Centre, Yorkton fell behind 1-0 but Jayden Dozorec and Taras McEwen both tallied to send the Bulldogs to the dressing room with a 2-1 lead.

By the end of the game, McEwen completed the hat trick while Dozorec added his second goal, Justin Genaille also had two and Dallas Bennett scored one in the win. Turberfield and Genaille had three assists each, Dozorec had two, while Bennett, Blair Berthlette and Dalton Bakke each had one.

Two nights earlier, it was Bakke and Genaille teaming up to do most of the damage. Bakke scored two while Genaille had the same as well as three assists. Yorkton went on to beat the Regina Riot 6-5 Thursday night in the final home game of the year for the club. The wins put Yorkton into a tie for third spot overall with the Riot.

Both have eight points from their records.

Regina had a record of 4-3-0 while Yorkton is at 3-4-2. The Saskatoon Smash and Prince Albert Predators have the top two spots in league play with 15 and 14 points respectively. As of Sunday night, the Smash were unbeaten. The PGLL season ends on June 30 when the two Regina teams square off.
