It’s been over three years, Saturday, September, 10, 2011, to be exact, since Canadian Wrestling’s Elite (CWE) last appeared in Yorkton, entertaining and mesmerising the people of Yorkton with its hard hitting, fast paced professional wrestling action.
But now the Winnipeg based professional wrestling promotion is back in town, as it will begin its sixth anniversary tour in style at Yorkdale Central School Tuesday, January 13. “The tour is kicking off in Yorkton as it made the most geographical sense as we work our way east through western Manitoba back to Winnipeg,” offered CWE owner Danny Warren, adding that CWE always brings a high quality show to every place it visits, but with it being their sixth anniversary tour, this one is going to be even better. “Canadian Wrestling’s Elite has always brought a big scale show to town but this is by far our biggest yet and we’re excited to return to Yorkton.”
But while CWE is most certainly returning to Yorkton, it’s not the same CWE that once wrestled in the city.
Three years ago CWE was an up-and-coming promotion. Now, however, CWE is an established wrestling company that is regarded as one of the most successful ones in western North America, enabling the promotion to book not only local talent, but international superstars as well.
Some of those international superstars will be competing in at Yorkdale School on January 13. Headlining the talent will be former WWF/E, WCW and TNA star “Big Poppa Pump” Scott Steiner, as well as former TNA knockout and current ROH star ODB and Jimmy Jacobs, a five time ROH tag team champion.
Also, Bull Bodnar returns to his home town to do battle in the squared circle, while other wrestlers such as international star “Hotshot” Danny Duggan and Saskatchewan’s own Michael Allen Richard Clark will also be competing.
