A special event to celebrate and award team members of the Canora Soccer Club was held on June 23 at the Canora Splash Park.
The soccer windup was a celebration for the major teams, Dynamite FC and the Lucky Leprechauns; the mini teams, Orange Crush and Green Crush; and the mini mites teams, the Bumblebees and the Panthers. The awards ceremony started at 6:30 p.m.
All team members received participation awards, but each team also gave out three awards: one for team spirit, one for the most improved player, and one for the rookie of the year. Each award winner received a certificate as well as a soccer ball as a prize for his or her hard work and dedication to the teams.
For Dynamite FC, the Team Spirit Award went to Erika Sweeney; the Most Improved Player Award, to Aron Cudal, and the Rookie of the Year Award went to Miah Ruf.
The Lucky Leprechauns congratulated Logan Grabowski for his team spirit, Methyl Trask as the most improved player, and Lucas Biletski as the rookie of the year.
Orange Crush awarded the Team Spirit Award to Shiloh Leson; the Most Improved Award, to Liam Trask, and the Rookie of the Year Award to Charlie Deer.
For Green Crush, Parker Kraynick was awarded for team spirit; Andrew Sliva for being the most improved player, and Maisie Kuzminski for being the rookie of the year.

After the awards were presented, members of the Canora Volunteer Fire Department helped the team members cool off by setting up a fire truck and hose by the splash park. Chief Michael Dugan and Deputy Chief Eric Sweeney were invited by the Canora Soccer Club to spray the kids and help them have a little extra summer fun.
