The Novice Clean Spot Yorkton Terriers and Thorsness Terriers played each other in the 'B' final of the weekend hockey tournament.

A late goal, scored unassisted by Kaedin Dycer, gave the Clean Spot team a 3-2 win after Thorsness had fought back to tie it at 2-2.

"This was our fourth game," said head coach Darrell Sobkow after the clock ran out in his team's 3-2 win.

"I (definitely) thought we'd be competitivenot necessarily in the top tier," he said referring to competing for the 'A' or the 'B' side.

Dycer scored twice and Ashton Schuster had one. Landon Burkell, Josh Herzog and Tyler Shannon all contributed assists. Dray Sobkow got the win in net.

Sobkow said it was fun to be a part of because the players are finally started to show what they learned back in the early parts of the current season.

"This is the time of year when they start to retain (things)," he said, talking about teaching young kids how to play their positions well.

"A light bulb turns on," he said with a smile, noting that the players on Clean Spot were well deserving of the 'B' title, did a lot of things right over the weekend.

Sobkow pointed out that the only glitch in the games came back on Friday when they went into overtime with the Melville blue team and were handed their first loss and only loss of the weekend, 5-4.

Dycer had a pair and Jack Long also had two. Herzog and Schuster had the assists.

Sobkow's club rebounded to get past the Frame Tech Terriers, 3-1. Dycer, Shannon and Schuster had the goals, while Shannon, Dycer and Herzog contributed assists. Against the Wadena Wildcats, Clean Spot won 11-2.

Herzog scored four goals, Long had a hat trick and Dycer had two goals. Braeden Zerff and Colby Lees had singles. Burkell, Schuster, Dycer, Zerff, Long, Anton Langan, Garrett Ellis and Roy McNab rounded out the assists. Next up for Clean Spot is the Major Hockey League playoffs, along with two others, the Farrell Agencies Terriers and Thorsness Terriers.
