There will be five races. One of them is brand new. It has organizers fairly excited to see what the turnout is like.

Asides from the addition of the 1/2 marathon race to the 'family', the Health Foundation is also adding new gear to the starting line that should help make scoring and timing a little better," says Fisher.

"It's a little more efficient and it's more accurate."

It's called the Chrono Track Timing System, he said.

It will be placed at the starting/finishing line where competitors will be required to step on it both at the start and at the finish of the race.

"We talked about it off and on for a couple of years now. We understood the cost had come down."

He said the CTTS is scheduled to arrive only hours before the start of the Health Foundation race, coming straight from Winnipeg, says Fisher.

"This provides much more accurate results."

To avoid mishaps in regards to traffic, the Health Foundation asks that all spectators and supports stay clear of this particular route.

Says Fisher: "Between 7 a.m. and 11 a.m., vehicle traffic will be restricted to local traffic on the race route. This is the area bordered by Darlington, Victoria Rd., York Rd., and Gladstone Avenue.

As well the 1/2 marathon will run down the north side of Darlington St., to Ross Ave., and back. It would be greatly appreciated if residents and spectators did not park directly on that race route. The half marathon starts at 7:30 a.m.

The 10 km run, the 5 km run, a 2 km junior run and a 10 km relay and family/community walk all get going at 8:30 a.m., Fisher says.
