Day #1 of EPCCA races in the books at Yorkton Ex

While rain Wednesday morning threatened to cancel the first of three days of Professional Chariot & Chuckwagon Association sanctioned races event organizers were able to get the track into condition for racing.

YORKTON - A long-time feature of the summer fair in Yorkton has been chuckwagon and chariot racing. 

While rain Wednesday morning threatened to cancel the first of three days of Professional Chariot & Chuckwagon Association sanctioned races event organizers were able to get the track into condition for racing although the chariots were held back four hours from the original schedule. 

When the chariots finally did run Ross Schnell emerged with the day’s best time at 62.61 in the 12th of 13 races. 

Casey Peterson was second in the race and on the day with a time of 63.71. 

Pam Peterson was third best on the day tin a time of 63.12. 

When the chuckwagons ran the Casey Peterson rig ran a quick 62.91 in heat 14.

Casey Peterson in his second wagon was second on the day topping race 16 with a time of 64.531. 

Shayne Salmonmd was third overall at 64.83.

The National Bank Financial Chariot Races are scheduled for 3 p.m. today (Thursday) and Friday, with the Westland Insurance Chuckwagon Races at 7 pm. today and 6:30 p.m. Friday. 

The Eastern Professional Chariot & Chuckwagon Association will move on to race Saturday and Sunday Sheho Sports Days and Ranch Rodeo.
