Edmonton’s Monster Pro Wrestling won’t do it. Regina’s High Impact Wrestling isn’t about to take the risk.
Even the well-respected Stampede Wrestling (now defunct) wouldn’t try it in all the years they were around.
However Winnipeg’s Canadian Wrestling’s Elite (CWE) will do it, as CWE will officially be bringing the first-ever all-women wrestling tour across Central Canada, with stops in eight different Manitoba communities as well as Yorkton. “This is the first tour of its kind in Central Canada and the first for CWE,” suggested CWE owner and promoter Danny Warren.
Historically women’s wrestling has seen its ups and downs. Women such as The Fabulous Moolah, Mildred Burke, Mae Young and Judy Grable entertained people for decades in the ‘early years’ of women’s professional wrestling, only to have the WWE nearly erase all of their hard work by turning the female professional wrestler into nothing more than eye candy and idiocy in the eyes of the casual wrestling fan.
But WWE aside, women’s wrestling has always had its place on the independent circuit, wowing crowds and fellow wrestlers alike with a combination of beauty, athleticism and power.
That combination is what Warren hopes will entertain fans during the Girls, Girls, Girls tour. “Women’s wrestling is at an all-time popularity high right now,” offered Warren. “With that fans can expect two hours of the best available women’s wrestling in Canada (and the United States).”
There will be two familiar faces making their Yorkton returns when CWE rolls into town on Tuesday, September 29 as Kat Von Heez and Giselle Shaw, both of whom made previous CWE appearances in the city, are booked for the show.
Also making their way to Yorkton for the Girls, Girls, Girls tour will be three other talented Canadian women: Bambi Hall, Violet and Miss Chevious.
In addition, CWE has acquired the services of three of America’s top female competitors as Roni Nicole (North Carolina), Sahara 7 (North Carolina) and Aja (Georgia) will make their Central Canadian debuts.
