Final bonspiel in Sturgis attracts 17 teams

The final bonspiel of the curling season concluded in Sturgis with the Matt's Home Hardware bonspiel held from March 20 to 23. There were a total of 17 teams entered with the Perry Pasiechnik rink topping the bonspiel for first place.

Students from the Sturgis Composite School hosted a one-day curling bonspiel on March 22.

The final bonspiel of the curling season concluded in Sturgis with the Matt's Home Hardware bonspiel held from March 20 to 23.

There were a total of 17 teams entered with the Perry Pasiechnik rink topping the bonspiel for first place.

 "It was great way to conclude the curling season," said Tyler Blender, Sturgis Curling Club member. “I want to thank everyone who supported the rink this curling season."

The Taylor Sliva rink placed first in the B side and the Brad Cameron rink won the C side.

Other teams entered were skipped by Patrick Kardynal, Kylie Babiuk, Blair Secundiak, Cory Babiuk, Nick Bodnar, Craig Folk, Derek Ryczak, Trudy Halvorson, Croy Smith, Frazer Will, Kirby Mirva, Conrad Peterson, Jordan Musey and Don Koroluk.

The Sturgis Composite School elementary students also had fun curling in its annual school bonspiel with 11 teams, held at the Sturgis Curling rink on March 22.

"I want to acknowledge Cory and Keith Babiuk for all their help with instructing and encouraging students during the bonspiel," said Brad Cameron, principal.
