Fred Perepiolkin rink undefeated in men’s super league

The Fred Perepiolkin rink, sponsored by Nykolaishen Farms, defeated Randy Trofimenkoff in draw number 2 of men’s Duck Mountain Super League curling played November 17 in Kamsack.

This seesaw game between two Kamsack teams was tied coming home when Perepiolkin was obliged to draw to the eight-foot with his last stone for the victory. His rink, consisting of Glen Becenko, Nolan Nykolaishen and Mark Warriner, is the only undefeated team heading in to third draw action.

Another second-draw game saw Don Bowes run up a string of single point ends to beat the Terry Dennis rink of Canora. Bowes is sponsored by Cottenie and Gardner Inc. while Dennis is backed by Pioneer Hi-Bred Seeds Ltd.

Rick Kineschuk of Benito handed Jeremy Hrycenko of Arran his second straight loss to round out draw number 2. All three games were eight-end contests.

Duck Mountain Super League draw number 3, which was to have been played on Tuesday in Kamsack, was to have Trofimenkoff  go against Kineschuk, Terry Dennis curl Fred Perepiolkin and Ken Newell of Norquay trade shots with Don Bowes of Kamsack.

The final round-robin super league draw in Kamsack will be played December 1. Spectators are welcome. Admission is free. Food and beverages are served in the curling rink lobby and upstairs in the licensed Sportsplex Lounge.

Super League curling moves to Norquay December 8; Canora, December 15, and Benito, December 22. Semi-finals and the championship game, with $1,000 in prize money at stake, will take place January 5at the Broda Sportsplex in Kamsack.
