The Yorkton Gridders are in for a rough start to start the season, says head coach Jason Farrell.

"I knew we'd have a tough start to the season," he said moments after taking on the chin against the Regina Mustangs, 40-0.

He said he was pleased his team was able to force Regina into third-down situations.

The team got the day off the next day but Farrell said it was likely going to be a long day off practice Monday.

He said he doesn't plan to change anything around for practice this week, but noted that blocking and shedding blocks were going to be among the items of the utmost importance.

"They might be worked a little harder," he said with a grin.

The remainder of the Gridder schedule has them playing on Sept. 5 at Liebel Field against the Unicorns.

They play again at home on Sept. 10 against the Razorbacks. Game time is scheduled for 11:30 a.m., at Century Field.
