The Yorkton Harvest AAA Midget hockey club will start their home schedule of the 2011 Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League tonight when they welcome the Notre Dame Hounds to the Farrell Agencies Arena.

Game time is 8 p.m.

The Harvest are coming off their season opener in which they played back-to-back games in Saskatoon with the Blazers.

Although they came away with two losses, head coach Jeff Odgers said it was a good way to start the season with a new group of kids who are new to the Yorkton AAA club.

Gone from last year's team include goaltender Kale Thomson and several top forwards.

Back to tend the nets is Spencer Bomboir and newcomer Teryn Phaneuf, said Odgers.

In the season opener on Friday, Saskatoon skated to a 4-0 win, in what Odgers said was a "great goaltending performance".

He added that the work of the Harvest goalies won't be an issue.

In that match, Bomboir stopped 34 of 38 shots, while Daniel Wapple stopped all 33 shots the Harvest fired his way.

Despite the score, Odgers said he was happy with the effort.

In the second game, a 6-3 Blazer win, Odgers said it was a game that rookie Jake McMillin really came to play.

The native of Carleville, Sk., scored twice in the game, including the first goal 3:24 into the first. He also tied the game up as the second period winded down.

Odgers said Wapple, who got the shutout in Friday's contest, was definitely on top of his game, while Phaneuf didn't look out of place in his net, either.

He also added that the game was quite entertaining, adding that little mistakes got the best of them in the third period.

Those mistakes led to three unanswered Blazer goals.

Tonight's meeting with the Hounds will be the first of a four-game homestead for the Harvest. Other games have them play on the weekend with the Saskatoon Contacts and next Wednesday with the Tisdale Trojans.
