On Saturday at the Willow Cree Memorial Sport Centre, Yorkton entertained the Beardy's Blackhawks. Despite outshooting the Blackhawks 16-15 in the first period, fell by a final score of 10-3.

Five Blackhawks goals came on the power play.

The Yorkton Harvest played three games last week in Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League action last week. They didn't come away with any wins.

They took their biggest beating on the power play. On Saturday in Duck Lake against the Blackhawks, Yorkton gave up five special teams goals all in the same period.

"It's frustrating," insists head coach Jeff Odgers, watching it happen on the ice behind the bench.

"We're definitely not clicking. I didn't mind the effort. It's easy to get frustrated."

The losses have the Harvest dropping farther down the standings, even though a quick string of victories could put them into post season contention; the regular season continues on for another month-and-a-half. Odgers admits that's what makes it frustrating.

"That's the frustrating part right there," he told Yorkton This Week, noting that a playoff spot isn't as far away as it seems.

As of the newspaper's press time, Yorkton is four wins out of a playoff spot. They carry a 6-18 record into tonight's key match-up with

They got going early. Landon Robin opened the scoring at 18:42 on the power play. Braden Oleksyn made it 2-0 three minutes later and Owen LeClaire made it 3-0 four minutes after. Yorkton's Dakota Odgers cut the lead to 3-1 with five minutes left in the period. Elliot Peterson made it 4-1 Blackhawks with 3:06 to go.

Five special teams goal in the second period followed for the Blackhawks. Three came on power plays and two came shorthanded. Brayden Park replied for the Harvest from Lesann and Kailum Gervais. The goal came with seven seconds remaining.

Lesann also tallied in the third frame, while Ryan Suchorab tallied the 10th goal of the game for the Blackhawks on the power play.

Head coach Jeff Odgers wasn't particularly impressed with the way things went in the second period at Duck Lake against Beardy's. Yorkton gave up five goals, all on special teams.

"When you give up that many power play chances"

They scored a fourth goal in a row in the second period. Three of their first four goals came on a power play.
