The Health Foundation Charity Road Race, one of the biggest events taking place in Yorkton over the summer months, is scheduled for Aug. 19 at 7:30 a.m.

For the safety of all participants, organizers kindly request all spectators to not park their vehicles on the streets between the hours of 7 a.m. - 11a.m.

The Health Foundation encourages all spectators to cheer on the runners.

Proceeds from the Health Foundation Road Race will go towards the purchasing of medical equipment in the health region.

The race will include a half marathon, a 10 km run, a 5 km run, a 2 km junior run and a 10 km relay and family/community walk.

The half marathon will be a 7:30 a.m.m start.

Medal and award presentations will follow the relays.

The Yorkton Co-op sponsors the event, along with the Painted Hand Casino (nutrition sponsor), Information Services (Learn to Run clinic sponsor) and the Western Financial Group (breakfast sponsor).

All entries were to be made before the date of the race. There will be no race day entries.

A map of the route will be available on the Health Foundation website closer to the date of the race (www.thehealthfoundation.ca).

Maps will also be available at the Health Foundation office at 41 Betts Avenue.

The Health Foundation would like to thank the road race committee along with the many volunteers who make the Road Race such a huge success, and to the Yorkton Pacers Running Club for their dedication throughout the summer.

Race kit pick up and pledge drop off on Aug. 18 at the Sport Mart and Parkland Mall. For those not able to be at Sport Mart on Aug. 18, please make arrangements with another runner to pick up your kit.

Runners are encouraged to collect pledges. Participants may use pledges to pay for their race registration.

Sponsorship will cover the cost of the race so 100 per cent of all pledges raised will be used in the purchase of new diagnostic equipment.

The awards ceremony will begin at about 10:30 a.m., and will be inside the Yorkton Regional High School.

Medals will be awarded to 1-3 place finishers in each race category ( 5 km, 10 km, 1/2 marathon, as well as the corporate relay event).
