Karcha's Saints roll in Estevan tournament

Saskatchewan High Schools Athletic Association (SHSAA) senior boys basketball action continued into the new year for SHHS as they headed to Estevan recently for an eight-team tournament (Jan. 13-14).


Saskatchewan High Schools Athletic Association (SHSAA) senior boys basketball action continued into the new year for SHHS as they headed to Estevan recently for an eight-team tournament (Jan. 13-14).

In the opening game, Sacred Heart edged Stoughton by a 77-71 final score.

Brendon Walkington led with 11 points, and Carter Ruff had 10.

In game two, Sacred Heart knocked off Estevan by a 75-51 final. High scorers were Preston Liebrecht with 38 points and Ruff had 12.

In their third and final match, Liebrecht had 42 points in an 86-56 beating of Weyburn.

Ruff also had 19 points.

Sacred Heart won the tournament which included eight teams in total, reports coach Garrett Karcha.

SHSAA boys basketball action continues into this weekend (see story above on this page), is this weekend when the two Yorkton high schools put their teams in the mix along with 10 other visiting squads in the York City Classic. Both gyms will be used.
