The Lady Raiders basketball team started off the new year with a convincing 68-41 home victory over Manitoba (Roblin).

Robyn Bendfeld had a strong game with 13 rebounds on 26 minutes while Raelene Nagy led the scoring parade with 19 points, followed by Brandey Blahut with 15.

On Friday, the Raiders took on the Esterhazy Warriors in a first round game at the Kamsack High School girls tournament. Eleven players marked the scoring column leading the 'orangewomen' to a strong win, says coach Tony Hayden.

Their second game put them up against Porcupine Plains. The twins towers (Bendfeld and Nagy) led the way, combining for 29 points and 27 rebounds, en route to a 55-27 win.

Matched up against Sacred Heart in the final, the Lady Raiders came away with a 53-33 victory.

Balanced scoring from Blahut (13 points), Nagy/Bendfeld (12 each), and a strong half court defence gave the Raiders the tournament championship.
