Perry Enns' team has been on the road a lot lately and this past weekend was their first time playing in familiar territory.

The Sacred Heart senior girls' volleyball team hosted an eight-team tournament, including Melville and the YRHS.

Due to other commitments, Enns said he didn't have a full line up of players available at his disposal.

They started out the tournament well on Friday but "we were missing some key players today" he said Saturday following his team's last game.

"We had a couple good matches with the Regional (YRHS) and Melville," he told the paper.

SHHS went 2-2 on Friday, he added. The strong play carried into Saturday a little bit, he said. "This morning, we had a very good match with Moosomin and Estevan," he noted.

He said despite the shortage of players on the bench on Saturday, they still played well as a team, but couldn't ignore the fact that when you are missing players, it's hard to make up for it.

"I'm very pleased, but it definitely had an effect.

Moosomin won the first set, 25-20, said Enns. He noted that they (SHHS) displayed all the right tools in the second set, when they fell behind 24-19 in a set they needed to win.

"We won 26-24 after being down 19-24."

In game three, Enns suggested that the lost players was really starting to show, as the Saints lost by five, 10-15.

He said among those missing were a starting setter and hitter.

"We had some new people, too," he said.

The volleyball season is quickly coming to an end, Enns said. The SHHS ladies are getting ready to hold conference playoffs on Nov. 5, Enns said. The top two teams advance to regionals.

"Today, I am very impressed with them," notes Enns of the team's work ethic, adding that there are also "quite a few young girls".

The highlight of the weekend was the Moosomin game, Enns told the paper.

"In the quarter final, we played Moosomin. In the second game, the girls made a huge comeback," he points out.

SHHS trailed 24-18 at one point in set two.

"We battled for every pointdisplayed a lot of heart. It was almost unbelievable."
