A local hockey player has recently been selected to represent Saskatchewan at a prestigious AAA tournament in Las Vegas from June 29-July 3.
Eleven-year-old Landon Sorensen, goaltender for the Yorkton Xerox Terriers of the South East Minor Hockey League’s (SEMHL) Tier One division, is currently competing at the North American ‘AAA’ Champions Cup in Las Vegas, Nevada, as a member of the Saskatchewan Allstars after impressing Sask Allstar head coach Chad Lang – who previously held the role of Regina Pats senior vice-president, where he is now currently a senior advisor – all throughout last season and into this spring and summer. “He had a very good season this year and has worked hard and it paid off for him,” Landon’s father Desmond told Yorkton This Week. “This is a very good opportunity and will be a great fun experience for him.
“I’m extremely happy and proud of Landon for how far he has come.“
While in Vegas Sorensen will play against two teams from Minnesota (Minnesota Machine and TC Premier) and one each from Toronto (Toronto Pro Hockey), Montreal (Montreal Jr. Canadiens) and California (California 2004 Selects).
The tournament itself is in its twelfth year of existence and has seen many of the players who have participated in it in the past play in the WHL, OHL, QMJHL and USHL.
