Megan Nagy of the Medicine Hat Rattlers volleyball team has been named the 2012 Canadian Colleges Athletic Association (CCAA), Women's Volleyball Player of the Year.

The native of Bredenbury also won the Alberta Colleges Athletic Association (ACAC) Player of the Year.

"For Medicine Hat, it's been their year. Megan's definitely been the leader of that team and a strong player in the ACAC conference," claims Leigh Goldie, the CCAA's vice president of programs.

Nagy serves as the captain of the team. She is a fifth-year left side who's enjoyed an outstanding season on the court. She also topped the CCAA national individual statistics board collecting 270 kills, making her the team's career leader and accounting for 34 per cent of her team's total kills.

She is a three-time member of the ACAC's All-conference team, a CCAA player of the month in November of 2011, as well as being an honours student.

Nagy has also just signed on with SIM Gratton Sports Agency to find a professional volleyball next season.
