Kelly Maddin's getting good at this.

Two appearances in provincial finals and two wins to show for it.

Sunday afternoon at the Yorkton Kinsmen Arena was a good place to be wearing orange.

Maddin, head coach of the Pee Wee 'A' Terriers watched his team beat the Moosomin Ice Badgers by a 7-2 count.

That win secured them a Saskatchwan Hockey Association (SHA) provincial championship.

The second year in a row Maddin's Pee Wee hockey team has come out on top in the SHA championship.

"They're a good hockey team," offered Maddin after beating the Badgers.

"But our size and skill shone through and we won."

The road to the final, at least by the numbers on the scoresheet, was easy.

Yorkton beat La Ronge twice. Then they beat North Battleford twice. All four victories hit double digit figures.

But not against Moosomin.

"It was a better series against these guys," insists Maddin.

The opening game of the SHA province final saw neither team dominate. Yorkton scored four times, the Badgers got on the scoreboard once.

"It was 2-1 after two (periods)," says Maddin.

"We got two timely goals in the third. One was shorthanded."

In the deciding hockey game, Mackenzie Flett scored to tie the game at 1-1 late in the first period.

Keanan Sperling gave Yorkton a 2-1 lead at 15:22 of the second period. Flett's second made it 3-1. Colin McDonald made it 4-1 Yorkton.

Moosomin would cut the lead in half minutes later but that was as close as they'd get.

Caden Durocher would tally twice before the final buzzer and Nick Demchuk also scored in the win.
