Orioles dominate at Hudson Bay

The Yorkton Orioles played five games at a tournament in Hudson Bay July 6-8 Twenty teams participated. In their first game, they beat Lanigan by a score of 5-1.

The Yorkton Orioles played five games at a tournament in Hudson Bay July 6-8

Twenty teams participated.

In their first game, they beat Lanigan by a score of 5-1. Ron Sopko and Chris Wyatt shared the pitching duties and Jeremy Krainyk hit a two-run home run

In the Orioles' second game they played Moosomin and won to a tune of 11-9.

Sopko, Wyatt, Krainyk and Mark Cuthill all shared in the pitching. Yorkton had to work a little harder to win the quarter final game. They played against Riverhurst and won a 7-6 decision as pitching duties were shared among four different arms, Cuthill, Krainyk, Derek Derkatch and Chris Soos all saw time on the mound while Derkatch and Jeff Bahrey had multi-hit games.

That put Yorkton into the finals where it was another close contest. They came out of it with a 6-5 victory over Macklin.

Soos, Derkatch and Krainyk were all used on the pitcher's mound while Bahrey, Derkatch and Mark Leik each chipped in two hits.

In the final, it was Yorkton against Estevan and Yorkton got back to their usual punishment, serving up an 11-2 beating, using Derkatch and Krainyk on the mound.
