The Yorkton Peewee AAA Cardinals ended their regular season in the Regina Baseball League this past Sunday with a 4 - 3 win over the visiting Melville Millionaires.

The win brings the peewee Cards to an even .500 on the season.

"This puts us in the middle of the pack" notes assistant coach Kevin Shirtliffe. " We are tied with Swift Current, Estevan and the Regina White Sox, all with .500 records." Coach Shirtliffe went on to say "It's tremendous to see the level of competition in the league this year" he added "anyone can beat anyone on any given day."

Reid Perepeluk started on the mound for the Cardinals, eventually getting credited with the win. He left the game giving up only one run, a solo home run.

Perepeluk was relieved by Gregor Farquharson. He yielded two runs on a two-shot dinger.

"The Mills were hitting the ball very well" noted Shirtliffe. Kaito Farquharson was brought in to close the game. He allowed no hits, and no runs.

With the regular season finished, the Cardinals will face the same Melville Millionaires in the first playoff round.

"The winner will face the winner of the Estevan/Weyburn series for the east division final" noted coach Shirtliffe.

PLAYOFFS

The league playoffs were scheduled to start up last night with the opening round against the Millionaires. Round two is scheduled for tomorrow with the winner advancing to play the winner of Estevan vs. Weyburn.
