The Parkland Racing Association is down to their final race weekend of the season after another successful turnout Sunday at the Yellowhead Speedway.

Fifteen racers turned out Sunday to take in some ideal race weather.

There is now one more race of the season. It will be next month and it will be a two-day weekend with both car races and a demolition derby to end the season.

Terry Heddon, one of the drivers who competes each time out, said the attendance has been going up and the weather has been "decent" for it.

He said drivers are coming to Yorkton from all over, including Kipling and Outlook.

Each race day includes three heat races per class (street stocks and thunderstocks).

The thunderstocks do 20 laps, he said, and the streetstocks do 25 laps.

There are also mechanics races and a ladies race.

We've been "fortunate for decent weather," Heddon told the paper, who observed that the "last race was good".

He added that business may get a little boost with the addition of the beer gardens, which came as a result of sponsorship from Springside Minor Hockey Association.

"Attendance has been level all across," noted Heddon, adding that "guys from all over come in" including some from Saskatoon.

WEBSITE
Each race helps drivers build up points in the standings, he said, and that the racetrack has a web site setup at www.yellowheadspeedway.ca.

Heddon noted that he wasn't sure who is leading the pack but said they should be included on the web site. Also mentioned are dates for upcoming events, chat forums for drivers, a comments section, racer points as well as meeting dates.

Racers collect points for a first-through-fourth place finish.

Heddon said the finale for the season is less than a month away and that the season-ending demolition derby is usually the highlight of the year.

The final race day sponsors are C.J Audio and Truck Accessories and Crystal Clear Imprints for the race portion and Access Communications for the derby. He wishes to thank all helpers and volunteers and the sponsors for helping to make the race dates possible. Sunday's was sponsored by Deluxe Motorworks and Wholesale Transmission and Differential.
