The Yorkton Regional High School (YRHS) Raider junior/bantam football team's season came to an end Saturday afternoon in Regina.

Yorkton played the Regina Mounties and were handed a 28-0 defeat, said Lance Stilborn, head coach.

The team went into the halftime trailing by a 14-0 count.

According to Stilborn, everything came apart for YRHS on the game's opening kickoff, which was returned for a touchdown.

He said his team's defence played really well, but following the opening touchdown, they couldn't get anything going at all.

"Defensively we played very well," he said, but they had "no offence all day".

He added that they only connected for two first downs all day long.

"The defence was awesome," he noted, and added that the 28-0 final was very indicative of the way the game went.

"It's a tough game to coach," he points out. "you go into panic mode" too he said, adding that it was a winner-take-all playoff game.

He said the year was a pretty good one for the high school junior team. It was also his first year coaching it.
"It definitely was fun," he said, adding that the team didn't have a lot of experience, but did manage to rack up a few wins, which didn't happen last year. Stilborn added that he was impressed with the work ethic of the team.
