Poncelet and co., placed in third place through the end of the round robin.

They played their way to the semi final where Poncelet said they met the Melville Comprehensive School Cobras.

The YRHS went 12-4 through the round robin, but fell short vs. Melville.

"It was a good weekend," he said following the elimination. "The girls played very well."

Also taking part was Esterhazy, the Melville Cobras, Preeceville, Moosomin, Estevan and Wadena. He said it was the team's goal to come out on top but he is happy with the way they played Friday and Saturday away from their home gym.

"The goal is to show well at the regionals," Poncelet explained Saturday during the championship game, played between Estevan and Melville.

The YRHS goal will be to place in the top-two at regionals.

He said in order to do that, the girls are going to have to be more consistent with their ball handling and passing. "It (would) allow us to run our offence."
